The Musée Condé presents, for the first time in its entirety, its collection of 17th-century graphic arts

The exhibition brings together more than fifty works, preserved in Chantilly and in major French collections.
From Baroche to Guerchin, Dominiquin and the Carracci, the art of drawing reaches new heights of bravura and sensitivity.

The works on display range from late Mannerism to mainly Bolognese and Roman Classicism, with a few rare works from the Neapolitan and Spanish schools.

The exhibition also highlights rediscoveries. Several drawings acquired as belonging to the French or Flemish schools have turned out to be the work of Italians influenced by foreigners staying in the peninsula in the 17th century. Thus, Van Dyck has given way to Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione, Poussin to Giacinto Gimignani and Le Lorrain to Filippo Napoletano.

Finally, the exhibition includes works by artists whose stay in Italy was only one stage in a brilliant career, but which made a lasting contribution to the evolution of the style of the school to which they were temporarily attached, such as Jacques Courtois from Burgundy and Stefano della Bella from Florence.
