Founded in 1923 the gallery is in its third generation and is now directed from New York by Hervé Aaron.
To enable a closer relationship with its clients, the gallery is also represented at prestigious locations in Paris, directed by Bruno Desmarest, and London. At its three locations the gallery shows important works of art from the 17th-20th centuries.
The gallery counts among its clients some of the greatest museums worldwide and in recent years has sold some significant works of art, including paintings by Titian and Nicolas Lancret.
Louis Léopold BOILLY
(1761 La Bassée – Paris 1845)
Portrait of Blanche Charlotte de Roncherolles, Countess of Ferragut
Black chalk, stump and white highlights
On the reverse is an old label bearing the inscription ‘Blanche Charlotte de Roncherolles / Countess of Ferragut / born in Guadeloupe / died in Paris in 1862’
Unpublished drawing to be included in the supplement to the Catalogue Raisonné of L.L. Boilly, by Messrs. Bréton and Zuber
One of Boilly’s rare drawings in the same vein as his famous small oil portraits, slightly larger in size and also very similar to his monochrome grisaille works, this sheet depicts Blanche Charlotte de Roncherolles.
In 1825, Frederick III of Prussia presented her with an impressive set of Berlin iron jewellery as a token of his friendship.
