A Look at the stand of the
Musée d’art moderne André Malraux
(MuMa – Le Havre)
Rooted in Le Havre — a city where artists such as Monet, Dufy, Friesz, Braque and Dubuffet were born or came of age — the MuMa was inaugurated in 1961 by André Malraux and holds a collection of 4,500 works, including 1,041 drawings.
He is the guest of honour at the 2026 Salon du dessin.
Thirty-Six Selected Works
At the Salon du dessin, the Musée d’art moderne André Malraux (MuMa – Le Havre) presents thirty-six sheets, among them a Male Academy by Pierre-Paul Prud’hon and a preparatory drawing for Thomas Couture‘s monumental canvas The Romans of the Decadence.
A selection of Impressionist, Nabi, Symbolist and Fauvist works — all movements richly represented in the collections — brings to light the airy watercolours of Eugène Boudin, the pastels of Degas, Sisley, Pissarro and Guillaumin, and the drawings of Henri-Edmond Cross.
The Creative Ferment of the 20th Century
Works by Paul Jouve and Jean Dupas embody the elegance of the Art Deco movement, while the vibrant blues of Raoul Dufy — a true “colour-light” born from the Norman shores — draw the eye irresistibly.
The chromatic compositions of Léon Gischia and Sonia Delaunay-Terk carry this sensory journey further, before it comes to rest on three abstract gouaches from the 1950s by Jean-Michel Coulon, an artist of the École de Paris.
